Who Needs Hazmat Training?
Every “hazmat employee” as defined in 49 CFR 171.8 must receive proper training. Don’t miss anyone on your team – the regulations are broader than most companies realize.
Required Training Applies to:
- All employees working for a hazmat employer (full-time, part-time, and temporary)

How Often Is Hazmat Training Required?
If you’re a hazmat employee, you’ll need to complete hazmat training that meets the requirements in the regulations within the first 90 days of hire or change in job function.

Who is required to receive hazmat training?
Any person who meets the definition of a “hazmat employee” under §171.8 requires training. This includes managers, supervisors, office personnel, drivers, shippers, and anyone who handles, packages, marks, labels, loads, or transports hazardous materials.
How often is hazmat training required?
Hazmat training must be completed within 90 days of employment and renewed every three years. Recertification training is required to maintain compliance and keep certifications current.
What regulations does your hazmat training cover?
Our training covers 49 CFR Parts 100-185 of the Hazardous Materials Regulations and fulfills all requirements specified in §172.704, including general awareness, function-specific, safety, security awareness, and in-depth security training.
Do you provide hazmat training certificates?
Yes, upon successful completion of our hazmat training program, participants receive certificates documenting their compliance with hazmat training requirements. These certificates are valid for three years as required by federal regulations.
What's the difference between IATA, IMDG, and DOT hazmat training?
DOT hazmat training covers domestic ground transportation under 49 CFR. IATA dangerous goods training covers international air transport regulations. IMDG training covers international sea transport regulations. We offer all three as separate training programs with their own certification requirements.
